In need of a centralized community asset, efforts to bring a YMCA to the Stanwood-Camano community began in 2010. A site that was within walking distance to three schools, senior housing, and several bus routes was chosen for ease of access. Proximity to schools was important in order to accommodate high school swim programs.
The pool incorporates Universal Design principles and is fully accessible for all ages and abilities. A lazy river, instructional warm water pool, 6 lap lanes, and a spa/hot tub offer both leisure and active options for guests. The natatorium is flooded with daylight and connects to the outdoors through expansive windows on three sides. Families have their own wing with a lounge area, Child Watch facilities, Adventure Zone indoor playground, and a community kitchen.
