This new facility replaced a building that had served the Everett community for over 100 years. Opened in late 2019, the new Everett Family YMCA blends the story of Everett with the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
The facility will serve many functions for the community and will welcome members with a dramatic entrance. The form of the building stands as an allegory to the uplifting force of an aircraft wing against the wind—a nod to Everett’s history in aviation and manufacturing. The design of the new building will focus on elevating Everett’s youth and will provide spaces that facilitate community partnerships, spaces that are ecologically friendly and energy efficient, and accessible to all.
