Pierce County Crisis Recovery Center

Location: Parkland, WA
Client: Pierce County
Area: 9,666 SF

With this facility, the first of its kind in the area, Pierce County responded to the need for additional mental health support in the community. BCRA worked with Pierce County and the private operator, Recovery Innovations, to design a secure 16-bed crisis triage and stabilization facility rooted in respect and recovery. Designed around a central living room, patient bedrooms and support areas open into the centralized space, eliminating corridors and pinch points. The care team space is open and approachable within the living room, which reduces barriers between staff and clients and instead is designed to build trust through spatial relationships.
