BCRA led the assessment and modernization of Hazen Pool for the Renton School District, renewing a1960s-era aquatic facility into a more functional, efficient, and user-focused environment. Completed in 2024 in partnership with WTI, the renovation prioritized long-term facility performance, updated amenities, improved safety, and extended operational lifespan.
The project included a comprehensive pool upgrade featuring a new modular vessel system, Myrtha RenovAction gutter, restored diving capabilities, competition and lap pool improvements, leisure pool functionality, diving boards, spectator seating, and enhanced viewing areas. BCRA also supported upgrades to deck surfaces, pool equipment, locker rooms, staff and support spaces, and overall building circulation to improve the daily experience for students, athletes, staff, and community users.
Behind the scenes, the renovation addressed critical building systems within the natatorium, including mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection replacements. These infrastructure improvements help support reliable operations, improved maintainability, and a facility better aligned with current aquatic programming needs.
The renewed Hazen Pool balances facility renewal with aquatic performance, creating a modernized community asset that supports school athletics, recreation, instruction, and long-term public use.
