Civil Engineering

The infrastructure that guides our experience in public spaces – sidewalks, roads, parking, stormwater collection – often go unnoticed, and that’s what civil engineers want.

Purposefully Invisible

When users have no complaints about those aspects of the built environment, when they blend seamlessly into the experience, we know we’ve provided successful civil design. Our team understands that much of the work of this discipline is unseen, but we appreciate our role in providing the supporting fundamentals for projects that improve our communities.

Planning for today — and tomorrow

Designing for the future is inherent in civil engineering. Solutions must be sophisticated enough to meet current needs and standards, but still account for potential impacts in years ahead. While working on designing a water main replacement for the City of Sumner, news of a future housing development near the project site reached us. Instead of moving forward with our initial design and location, our team looked for opportunities to accommodate this future development and meet current needs in a single solution. When a suitable solution was found, we brought the idea to our client. Though the upfront costs changed, this small solution had big impact for client by saving them time and money associated with rework when the development was built.
