Legacy, Resmark starting Mercer Island apartments

Legacy Partners Residential and Resmark Apartment Living said construction will begin this week on a six-story, 209-unit apartment project on Mercer Island.

The Hadley Apartments is at the corner of Southeast 27th Street and 76th Avenue Southeast. There will be 244 underground parking spaces and 9,200 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Via Architecture designed the project and Chinn Construction is the general contractor.

Resmark is an equity partner. JP Morgan is providing construction financing. Other team members are Yu & Trochalakis, Coughlin Porter Lundeen, Brumbaugh & Associates Landscape Architecture, Robin Chell Design, BCRA Design and The Fria Co.

Opening is set for August 2016.

Legacy Partners said in a press release this will be the only significant apartment project to start construction on Mercer Island this year and next year.

Rents will range from a $1,004 a month for a studio to $2,500 for the most expensive two-bedroom unit.

The site is near the King County Metro park and ride and a future East Link light rail station.

“Mercer Island's downtown has now reached a critical mass of residents that creates an energized, walkable downtown,” Legacy Partners' Senior Managing Director Kerry Nicholson said in a press release. “With it getting increasingly difficult to move about the metro (area) due to chronic congestion, we are delighted to find a site between Seattle and Bellevue that will be served by light rail.”
