"Common Ground" at 13th Venice Architecture Biennale

With the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale underway, let's revisit Dezeen editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs's interview with architect and director of this year's event, David Chipperfield. The interview shares the thinking behind year’s theme, "Common Ground" and Chipperfield speaks candidly about Architects involvement in how we work with and approach the common needs of architecture and society.  Chipperfield stresses the need for the profession to address “the 99.99% of the rest of the world which architects are not dealing with.” Otherwise he says, architects risk being relegated to being “urban decorators.”
