Abbott Construction recently started a $14 million job at the Bear Creek School that will add a 52,800-square-foot Upper School and Performing Arts Center. The private school is at 8905 208th Ave. N.E. in Redmond.

The Upper School will have 21 classrooms, three music classrooms, a media center, kitchen, commons, offices and support spaces over two floors. It will serve grades 7 through 12.

The Performing Arts Center will have a 350-seat auditorium-style theater, professional lighting and sound systems, dressing rooms, practice and rehearsal rooms, and instrument storage areas.
Existing buildings are being demolished where the new building will stand.

New space was designed by Tacoma architect BCRA as a steel-framed building with metal stud infill. Exterior finishes will be masonry and fiber cement siding, asphalt shingles and single-ply roofing.
Site improvements will include additional parking, an entry drive, wetland work, rain gardens and landscaping.

Other team members are Alliance Construction Management, PLA Designs, BRC Acoustics & Audiovisual Design and JLR Design Group.

Bear Creek School starts $14M expansion. The new Upper School is expected to open in August 2015. Bear Creek also operates a Lower School on the campus for preschool to 6th grade students.
