BCRA Wins International Interior Design Association Award!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BCRA NAMED WINNER OF THE 6TH ANNUAL IIDA HEALTHCARE INTERIOR DESIGN COMPETITION

Tacoma, Washington – October 6, 2017–  BCRA is proud to announce that it has been named a winner of the International Interior Design Association’s 6th annual IIDA Healthcare Interior Design Competition. This competition honors and celebrates outstanding originality and excellence in the design and furnishings of healthcare interior spaces. BCRA was recognized in the category of Ambulatory-Urgent Care for Indigo Urgent Care Clinics. There are currently 14 Indigo locations throughout the Puget Sound, from Marysville to Tumwater. BCRA is the designer, Andersen Construction is the contractor, and MultiCare Health Systems is the owner. BCRA’s design team consisted of Kela Gribbons and Natalie Goza, interior designers, Michael Herbert, environmental graphic designer, and Laura Jacobson, architect.

Seattle’s coffee culture shaped Indigo’s hospitality-focused atmosphere, which feels more like a lounge than a healthcare facility, while still being conscious of hospital-grade finishes. The beauty of the Pacific Northwest is reflected in authentic and sustainable materials, vibrant colors, and an abundance of daylight.

“With research illustrating the link between design and positive patient outcomes, designers are making a tremendous impact on the healthcare industry,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “This year’s winners of the Healthcare Interior Design Competition reflect the ever-evolving and healing nature of healthcare design.”

The jury panel reviewing this year’s competition included Carol Doering, IIDA, AAHID, CID, LEED AP, healthcare lead, IA Interior Architects; Lisa Herriott, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, interior designer, project manager, UW Medicine | Harborview Medical Center; and Tiana Lemons, IIDA, NCIDQ, EDAC, healthcare studio leader, orcutt | winslow.

Indigo, along with all winning projects, will be published in an issue of Healthcare Design magazine, featured on the IIDA website, and promoted on IIDA social media networks to more than 300,000 followers.
