Holland Partner Group is set to begin the next phase of construction on 810 Dexter, a 362-unit apartment building in South Lake Union.

Holland Construction Management, the developer's construction division, is the general contractor.

The city issued a permit variance on Wednesday allowing a tower crane to be erected.

Plans filed with the city in April show Holland expected to begin shoring and excavation work by the end of June. A two-story office building on the site was demolished.

Runberg Architecture Group is the architect. Design for the seven-story building includes 2,500 square feet of retail and underground parking for 252 vehicles. Completion is expected by June 2016.

A representative from Holland was not immediately available to comment on the construction plans.

The full-block site is bounded by Dexter Avenue North, Aloha Street, Eighth Avenue North and Valley Street. An entity related to Holland purchased the site in May from Alexandria Real Estate Equities for $19 million.

Vancouver-based Holland has been one of the most active developers in South Lake Union. Holland has planned, started construction or opened more than 1,600 apartments in the last few years in South Lake Union.
